This is the 13th Annual SuperKid™ Triathlon. How cool is that?

SKtrieps

The first SuperKid Triathlon was held in 1997 had 156 participants. It was founded on the principle of Fun First, Food Second, Competition Third. That's a tradition that is continued today. You can check out some of the history of SuperKid on the original site: SKTri.com.

Overall Finish Times for 7-15

Split Times for 7 - 15

Our guess is we've heard from all the parents at this point and have made adjustments. The file with the split time for T2 does not reflect all the T2 times due to cross talk on the boxes. The final times are the same as the overall finish file but the T2/Run may not be exactly correct on all participants. (Next year we have to separate those timing boxes!)

Results for 6 and Under

One note about the results for 6 and under. They are posted in the order the tags were pulled at the finish line and/or placed on the stringers. It is entirely possible that some age groups are in reverse order, but quite honestly it was a fun race for the kids. Until we have time to go through every photo in order we're not going to know if the order was totally correct.

Photos are posted at My Action Photo. They're great! Hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for coming this year. We all had a blast and hope you did too!

Check the Wave Start Schedule to verify your child's start time.

A couple of notes on the race:

Plan to arrive early to find parking and get set up. At least 60 minutes, but 90 would be preferred to give you enough time.

Only one parent will be allowed in transition with each child. You'll receive a wrist band at registration.

Transition areas will be set up and there will be a map at registration of where your child's transition area is located.

SuperKid is all about building strong bodies and healthy kids. This means getting them off the couch, away from the TV and Video Games, and outside for some healthy physical acitivity. It doesn't matter if your child is already an athlete or is just starting to engage in sports and outdoor activity. This is a great event for the whole family and gives your children the opportunity to be active and healthy. With a swim, bike and run course, real transition area, body markings and awards for all participants, you can help your child gain the self esteem that comes from doing their personal best.

Event Location:

Simpkins Swim Center

979 17th Avenue

Santa Cruz, CA

Kids will swim in the Simpkins pool, bike and through the adjacent park on dirt roads and trails. Each child must wear an ANSI approved helmet on the bike. THE BIKE COURSE IS SUITABLE FOR FAT TIRE, MOUNTAIN BIKES, AND CYCLECROSS BIKES. No road bikes or skinny tires!

All kids who participate will receive a finisher's medal and each individual will be called to the stage to receive their medal. Kids will receive a t-shirt, swim cap, free raffle ticket, water bottle and other special sponsor gifts.

Entry Fee:

6 and Under $35 (plus $5 USAT Annual Membership/Insurance Fee)

7 - 15 $40 (plus $5 USAT Annual Membership/Insurance Fee)

Active.com is doing maintenance on their site from 9:00 to midnight on Tuesday, October 6. They will not be processing registrations during that time.

Family Registration Category $100

If you have three or more kids to register for SuperKid you can save by using the Family Registration category on either Active.com or by mailing in your registration. You need to complete the entry information for each child separately, and sign each waiver on Active.com. You will only be charged once, for the first child you register. DO NOT USE THE FAMILY REGISTRATION UNLESS YOU ARE REGISTERING THREE OR MORE CHILDREN OR YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED. You will be charged separately for the USAT annual fee when you pick up your race packets.

Registration Limit in 2009 is 550 kids!

This year we've increased the registration limit to 550 kids. Be sure to sign your kids up early to guarantee a spot.

Chip Timing for Ages 7 - 15

We will be providing ankle chip timing for all athletes ages 7 through 15. We'll provide instructions on how to use the timing chips. It will be fun for both the athletes and the spectators to hear all the beeping as kids cross the finish line.

For racers 6 and under we will provide finishing places in each age and gender group but no finish line times. All results will still be sent to USAT but the 6 and under ages will not be included in the rankings for time.

Wave Start Time

Because this is a pool swim we are limited to the number of lanes for each wave so we will establish specific wave starts for each age as registration fills. In general, the 11 - 15 age groups wlll start first, betwen 8:00 am and 8:30, with the 7 - 10 ages following shortly. The younger age groups - 6 and under will have their first start around 11:00 am. Wave Starts subject to change based on registration numbers as we get closer to the event.

Course Changes

There will be amandatory dismount on the rocky downhill portions of the laong course for 9- 15 years olds. Please look at course maps for your age group to determine if this affects your course. Dismount is only in effectont eh downhill portions. Athlete will be able to mount bikes and ride uphill.

This is a USAT Sanctioned event. You must either register with your USAT number or pay a $5 USAT membership fee for each child. If your child has a current USAT card you will need to present it to pick up your race packet. If you can't find it, you can print a temporary card on the USAT website.

Become an annual USAT Member now for $30 adult, or $5 for each child. You can rint your annual membership card online at this link:
