Race Info :
The attached files contain all the important race info that has gone out in emails. You will find the most up to date info on registration, wave starts, parking, etc in the August 3 Update pdf.
The USAT Mobile Tour will be setting up in Depot Park for two days of product demos, sampling, music and videos complete with a mobile tour bus and lots of national sponsors supporting the event. Check the schedule below for updated information.
The Course:
You'll swim 600- 700 yards at Cowell Beach adjacent to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, right next to the famous Steamer Lane surf area and the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. Distance is dependent on the tide and where the buoys are placed each year.
After your swim you'll run down the sidewalk to Depot Park, have assistance getting your wetsuit off if you need it, and hop on your bike for a 12 mile ride out to the West Side of Santa Cruz. This year we have a new bike course that everyone should like much better than last year's course. You will only travel one way on Delaware Street, making a U-turn at the entrance to Long Marine Lab, then a right turn onto Swanton and a left turn onto West Cliff Drive for a very scenic ride back towards the corner of Bay and Laguna. You will make TWO loops of the bike course before returning to transition.
At the end of your bike ride you'll return to Depot Park and run up West Cliff Drive past the Surfer Museum at Lighthouse Point before returning to the Depot Park Finish Line where you'll receive your medal and finisher's t-shirt.
New Start Time:
We've moved the start time of the race to a more civilized 8:30. Actually, there's a reason for this...we can turn the PA system on in Depot Park at 8:00 am and hold our pre-race briefings right in the park before people head down to the water. That gives everyone a little extra time to be ready before they head to the beach.
Registration:
Space is limited for this event so you'll want to register early. Even though we've asked for more spaces on our permit this year we anticipate that we'll sell out again before race day. Once it's sold out there won't be any race day registration or waiting lists.
General Registration
$75 until May 31st
$85 after June 1st
Youth (13 - 15) Junior Registration (16 - 19)
$45 until May 31st
$55 after June 1st
Club Discounts are available online. If you don't see your club on the list please contact us with information on how many people you'll be brining and we'll get you added to the website.
